We're delighted to welcome Argentinean defender Alex Vigo to the club. The 23-year-old right-back arrives on a year-long loan from River Plate with an option of making the transfer permanent included in the agreement.
The hard-working defender expressed his delight upon joining his new team-mates in the training camp in Turkey.
"I'm happy to join Crvena zvezda, a great club. I'd like to thank director of football Mitar Mrkela and everyone at the club for showing me confidence. I have no doubt that I'll be able to fulfull all tasks put in front of me. I know how big this club is and I like that. I'm here to win. I feel great, I'm ready to go and I hope to contribute to the team as soon as possible."
If the red and whites manage to retain the Superliga title, they will automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage. Vigo would love to test himself in Europe's elite tournament.
"I'm excited at the prospect of playing in the Champions League. I'll go my best to help the team reach one of the best competitions and to do well there. I also know how big the Večiti derbi is. Everyone compares it to the duel of River Plate and Boca Juniors, so know what to expect."
Alex has spoken to our former lefr-back and compatriot Luis Ibanez, who gave him all the information he needed to make the switch from Argentina to Serbia.
"Luis told me so many nice things about the club. I can already say that I wish to stay here for many years. As soon as the news broke of my move to Crvena zvezda, many fans contacted me on social media and welcomed me to the club. I'm so happy to be able to show them what I can do on the pitch. I'd like them to believe in the team and we'll do our best to make them proud of our performances."
Welcome to Belgrade, Alex!
