Crvena zvezda gained significant reinforcement during the winter transfer window in the form of Filippo Falco. The 28-year-old Italian forward joins us on a three-and-a-half-year contract from Unione Sportiva Lecce.
Falco has already teamed up with his new colleagues at the training camp in Turkey. The former Bologna player, who started his youth career with Bari, has been welcomed by head coach Dejan Stanković, the staff and Zvezda players. Filippo was deligted with the welcome at his new club.
"It’s a tremendous honour to sign for Crvena zvezda. It’s the biggest club in the region, a club that’s well-known and respected in Italy. Everyone knows about its tradition, rich history and passionate supporters. I honestly can’t wait to play for them. I’m here to prove myself and win trophies with the team. We want to do well against AC Milan in the upcoming Europa League clashes."
Falco can’t wait to work under former Lazio and Inter star Dejan Stanković.
"It’s going to be amazing working with him, I’m delighted. Stanković is a football legend in Italy."
The left-footed attacker appeared 11 times for Lecce this term, scoring two goals and providing an assist. He can play in various positions, on the wing, behind the strikers and also upfront, so the team can benefit a lot with his inclusion. It’s going to be interesting to see two Italians play for ‘Stella Rossa’ with Diego Falcinelli already looking to help his compatriot Filippo settle in with the Serbian champions.
Benvenuto, Pippo!
