Jovan "Kule" Aćimović, the legendary Crvena zvezda footballer and the Yugoslavian national team, was born on 21 June 1948 in Belgrade. He spent an impressive 11 years with Zvezda, from 1965 to 1976. During his 11 seasons wearing our jersey, he played a total of 519 matches, scoring 113 goals. Aćimović clinched four league titles (in 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1973), three National Cups (in 1968, 1970, and 1971), the Mitropa Cup in 1968, two Yugoslav Super Cups in 1969 and 1972, and one Cup of League Champions in 1973.
He holds the club record for the most appearances in European competitions (51) and ranks fourth in Zvezda's all-time list for league appearances (237) and competitive matches played (318).
He made a significant impact in the national team as well. Aćimović scored a crucial goal in the World Cup qualifications for the 1974 tournament in West Germany against Greece (1-0). He was the standout player in the playoff against Spain (1-0) in Frankfurt. He played in all six matches during the finals. In some surveys, he was voted in the ideal team of all European Championships.
Following his playing career, he became a member of the club's coaching staff, where he worked with the youth sides in our academy.
